Churchill War Rooms London, England

The Churchill war rooms are a Museum is located in central London with access from Westminster station. The war rooms are part of the five branches of the Imperial war Museum. The museum is an underground complex that once housed a full British government command center for the second world war. The museum is mostly an exploration of the life of Winston Churchill as well as the time that he would’ve experienced in this bunker throughout the war.

Construction for the war room began in the year 1938 and the complex would become fully operational in the year 1939 just before the war broke out in Europe. The war rooms would be active up until the surrender of Japan in 1945. As soon as the war was over the preservation effort of these rooms was realized. Up until the 1980s the use EM was used as an administrative site and then opened to the public in the year 1984. In the year 2005 a major redevelopment on the museum including the Cabinet war rooms would reopen the exhibit and change features for a better user experience.

Previous to 2012 the museum entrance the war rooms was kept fairly discreet. The museum was receiving around 300,000 visitors every year but since the name has changed and since consulting engineers have completed a completely new design for the walls of the museum, attendance is up considerably. The newer design of the war Museum has a bronze entranceway with a faceted sculpture work. Overall the entrance looks like a fusion of sculptures as well as architecture for guests.

Although this museum has been open for 33 years the changes made to the exhibits as well as the new sculpture work entrance have led to some major changes. If you want to immerse yourself in the World War II history of London, this is the perfect place to have the proper experience.
